Photo hides

Near base camp there are 20 hides (each 1-8 person) in 4 places: forests, small lake, open landscape. We can have max 35 persons in hides. Some hides have beds and a separate toilet. Many of hides have front of hide covered area to visit in a toilet. In some hides we have heating (october-april).

Bears, wolves, wolverines, eagles and many other birds can be seen from hides. Every year we have many nesting birds even in our garden where we feed small birds.

Equipment

Sleeping bag, ball heads / wimberley, warm clothes specially socks (in hides it is forbidden to wear shoes), head lamp (not so much in may-july), long lenses 300-600 mm + converters, mosquito spray in summer.

Around 14 photo hides: bears, wolves, wolverines and eagles. 2 bird hides: capercaillie, black grouse, crane, bean goose, whooper swan and other water birds.

Lenses

In a hide, lenses of length 300-600 mm, plus converters, are most useful. Lassi also uses a 70-200mm lens for landscapes and animals in the foreground. Some bears or wolverines may come very close to the hide, occasionally within 20-30 metres even, but usually they will be between 50 and 200 metres away.
