Capercaillie and Black Grouse in KUHMO
At the end of April or beginning of May, the capercaillies and black grouses are having their mating season in the boreal forests. We offer you the possibility for getting some shots of their noble dancing close to our base camp Kuikka. We transport small hides and/or tents to well-known mating places and take our guests there in the evening, since the birds gather in the early morning. In our area, there might be snowfall or sunshine, the weather is unpredictable and sometimes creates special effects in your photographs. And if you like it, you are free to combine your bird trip with some more observation of predators, aquatic birds or photo hiking in old forest areas.
Cranes and water birds like bean geese, whooper swans, goldeneyes and Eurasian teals are mating and nesting at our bird hide in Kuhmo, close to the bear and wolf hides. The bird hide offers you different targets and a perfect variety for your photographic stay in Finland.
